CADMesh is still the easiest way to load triangular mesh files and CAD files into Geant4 geometries. The original version depended on some external libraries to read the various supported file formats. Now CADMesh 2 has built-in readers for PLY, OBJ, and STL files. Check it out here!.
Easy Installation The built-in readers are one thing, but the main selling point for CADMesh to is its trivial installation process.
CADMesh 2 is now header only.

Validation and traceability is vitally important when calculating radiation protection quantities. This article is an introduction into the sorts of validation work we do whist developing Shielding Studio. It is also a demonstration of how quickly Shielding Studio can produce useful results in 3D!
Reference Data There are various sources for measured data for a variety of radiation qualities when we are talking about ambient dose equivalent. Here we use data in this Open Access publication, so that you can read it too!

ICRP 2019 is all over. It was a great conference, with a lot of interesting developments in radiation protection talked about. The three main themes for the conference where Mining, Medicine, and Mars. The big three for radiation protection.
Mining NORM as ways was a big feature on mining day. As more efforts are being made to actually quantify the amount of NORM that is being moved around the globe, even more effort again is being directed towards understanding the exposure scenarios that NORM features in.

Radiation protection will rely heavily upon computer simulation for the evaluation of new and complex exposure scenarios in the future. In particular, it will find increasing application in: the design and verification of new facilities and plant where shielding needs to be optimised; in the reconstruction of radiation incidents; and in radiation worker training.
Computer simulation is used widely in fields outside of radiation protection, where radiation sources and humans are in close proximity, most notably medicine, and specifically radiotherapy in its various forms.

Before we even consider 3D printing one of these contours, we need to figure out how to extract them from the treatment plan, and join the dots to make a watertight surface. Easier said than done, that is why we built Contour Exporter.
Here is Contour Exporter loaded with a head and neck treatment plan containing over 70 contours.
Joining The Dots Contours are just that. Contours. Dots joined by lines that surround a region of interest.
